Worth remembering

May 24, 2018

As we approach Memorial Day, I offer a column I wrote three years ago about a remarkable family of patriots who came from my hometown.  I’m sorry to report that Norbert “Nubs” Petri, quoted in this 2015 column, died in February of 2018.  And sadly, the last of the Petri brothers, Virgil, died seven month later.

I’ve been very fortunate to know all the Petri family. Loved the write-up you did for the newspaper. The seven brother that served in the service at the same time, was fortunate to return home before their mother passed. They lived a great life and was able to serve our country.

Even after their military service, they were all solid citizens, important members of their communities.
