Here’s a riveting story from The New York Times Magazine about the role of dubious blood spatter evidence in an Illinois murder case.
The Ed Parkinson mentioned in the story helped prosecute the second murder trial against David Hendricks.
And coincidentally the location of the killing in this Times story, Lawrenceville, is only 15 miles from Allendale, Ill. Hendricks’s parents lived there in retirement. They had lived 300 miles north, in suburban Chicago.
Scott Meiss says
This story and the far too many stories of wrongful convictions are infuriating.
They are too often a product of lazy police work, and over zealous prosecutors who hope to boost their conviction rate for future political aspirations.

I worry about the same thing, Scott.
