Music has always been a big part of my life. One of my musical thrills occurred not long before Christmas in 2009 when I narrated a children’s book, A Christmas Bell for Anya by Chris Stewart, while the Illinois Wesleyan University Civic Orchestra played Alfred Reed’s famed Russian Christmas Music.
I remember I arrived at the concert with a voice that bordered on hoarse, but I was not about to let loose of an opportunity to be part of the telling of a touching Christmas story with a stirring musical background.
I’m sure those of you who know Russian Christmas Music will want to listen through the end of this 12-minute performance. If you’re unfamiliar with this story and music, I invite you to put on your very best earphones and be prepared to hear a superb orchestral performance under the baton of Steven Eggleston and an adequate narration by yours truly.
Merry Christmas.
